CUSTOMER FOCUS GROUP, Sydney

Trimagic recently conducted another focus group session in Sydney where clients were able to express their information needs and to present a variety of issues related to the profession of Information Management. The focus group is a highly interactive session discussing broad issues that Information Managers face. At Trimagic, we appreciated the opportunity to listen to the challenges of these individuals that came from Law, Engineering, Finance, Resources, Education and Government institutions. Common themes were identifies such as increasing the usability and features of the OPAC, taking advantage of existing relationships with content providers and identifying methods of increasing the awareness and value of the information management team. We would like to thank the participants and look forward to the next session.

TRIMAGIC USER GROUPS

Well attended Trimagic User Group meetings were held during the first quarter of the year in Australian capital cities. These meeting provided us with excellent opportunities to talk with our customers, find out more about their current information management needs and show them some of our latest products. But, just as important, because these sessions were held on customer sites, our hosts were able to show us all some of the great things that they have been able to achieve using Trimagic technologies and their own imagination and creativity.

Guy Vowles. Department of Public Works and Housing , Brisbane, showed us how he and his team made the library a focal point of the Department's intranet through imaginative use of technologies with his TIMS system. Caroline Draper, Department of Premier and Cabinet, Perth showed us just ho useful Departmental customers are finding their personal pages in her TIMS OPAC. Vicki Richardson and Sue Coates, Finlaysons, Adelaide, showed us how they manage workflows in their TIMS library system with its colour-coded databases.

These meetings were very popular and we all went away with new ideas, so stay tuned for more of these events in the future.

SEARCHING THE ENTERPRISE, Funnelback

Enterprise search and enhancing the end users' search experience are very current topics. Access to information sources and browser based technologies has never been more prolific in the user community. To this end, we have established a relationship with Funnelback in order to create an Enterprise search experience that capitalises on the strong searching experience provided by Inmagic and adds complimentary features such as clustering", related topics and terms as well as cross application search features with consolidated and relevance ranked result sets. In other words, another set of features in an enhanced OPAC experience.
